Sushant Singh Rajput who stars in the Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood blockbuster The Fault In Our Stars, likes to keep his promises. He had made one back in the day to the director of his upcoming film, and when the moment presented itself, he was happy to keep his promise.
It’s casting director turned film director Mukesh Chhabra
we are talking about.
Mukesh had given Sushant his big Bollywood break in
Abhishek Kapoor’s Kai Po Che. Sushant was a popular TV star then, who harboured
Bollywood dreams. Mukesh recognised his potential and screen presence, and
catapulted him into the world of movies.
Since then, there has been no looking back for Sushant!
And a little birdie tells us, that back in the day Sushant had made a promise to
Mukesh that whenever he turned to direction, Sushant would be honoured to play
a part in his film.

Pat came Sushant's reply, “If and when you make a film, howsoever much long it may take, and no matter which part of the world I’m in at that point, and irrespective of my work commitments then, I will do your movie without batting an eyelid.”
Mukesh who turns to direction with the Hindi remake of
The Fault In Our Stars, approached Sushant when he acquired the rights of the
popular book and Hollywood movie.
He called up Sushant and was pleasantly surprised with
his answer. “I had already made a promise to you, I will not go back on it. You
don’t need to ask me, I will be obliged to do the film,” said Sushant.
The Hindi remake of The Fault In Our Stars goes on the
floors on June end. Music maestro AR Rahman has been roped in to engineer the
tunes in the film. Mukesh often flies out to Chennai to meet with Rahman and
exchange notes.
